The
Mersey Beatles are
proud to announce that among their shows for this year's
International
Beatles Week is the headline set at The Mathew Street Festival
on the Derby Square Beatles stage on Bank Holiday Monday,
25 August from 5pm. |
In
this, Liverpool's year as European capital of culture, it is a
great honour for the boys to be part of Europe's biggest free
music festival, and headlining the Beatles stage is the icing
on the cake.
The
boys kick off Beatles Week on Thursday 21 August
with a show at The Caven Club alongside Liverpool's own Elvis
Brettini in an ELVIS vs THE BEATLES special show from 9pm.
Friday
and Saturday's shows will be anounced shortly.
On
Sunday 24 August, The Mersey Beatles reprise
their Fesitval appearance at The Vines on Lime Street from 9pm.
There was an incredible atmosphere at this show last year, with
many people still talking about it as the highlight of last years
MSF - The Mersey Beatles
hope to recreate a night just as memorable this year.
And
they liked it so much, they've asked the boys back every Sunday
night starting from the end of August - see the Gig
Guide for details.
Then
on Monday 25th August it's time for the biggest
street party of them all as The Mersey Beatles finnish the Mathew
street festival on the Derby Square stage at 5pm.
This
promises to be their most exciting set yet, as The Mersey Beatles
condense their epic Cavern set (where they play 3 x 45 mins every
Thursday) into one breathtaking ride through The Beatles back
catalogue, mixing early hits and psychedelic classics.
There
will be no problem generating an atmosphere here - Liverpool people
and Beatles fans from all over the world know how to celebrate
the music of history's favorite band.
As
always a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Beatles
Day in Liverpool
 |
So here it is at last - Liverpool's first Beatles day. On
Thursday 10th July, the Capital of Culture officially celebrates
the music of its most famous sons.
|
The
event, part of the Summer Pops music festival, marks the 44th
anniversary of the Fab Four’s triumphant homecoming after
they conquered America in 1964.
Thousands
of Beatle-style mop-top wigs and inflatable guitars are on sale,
raising money for Alder
Hey children’s hospital and the Liverpool Unites campaign
which is raising money for a community centre in memory of Rhys
Jones.
There
will be a Beatles parade, shops and businesses will be decorated
with Beatles memorabilia, and radio
stations will play Beatles music and ask for Fab Four memories
or anecdotes.
So
where can you find Liverpool's favourite Beatles tribute band,
The Mersey Beatles?
Where
else but at the Cavern Club from 10pm, following a special one
hour set at the Hard Days Night Hotel from 8pm. If you're not
on the guest list for the exclusive HDNH show, don't despair,
just get down to the Cavern from 10pm.
Can
you think of a more fitting place to spend the final hours of
Beatles Day
than at the Cavern Club, listening to the music of the Fab Four,
played live
by Liverpool’s own The Mersey Beatles?
No,
Neither can we. See you down there!
Have
a FAB Beatles day and remember... Love is all you need!
Before She Gets To Saying Goodbye
 |
The Mersey Beatles have a ticket
to ride on the QE2's final voyage
On
Friday 11th April, The Mersey Beatles fly to New York
to join the QE2 on its final Atlantic crossing. Sadly
the QE2 will be decomissioned later this year.
|
The
boys were invited to play this special voyage after the success
of their first performance aboard the famous ship last November.
The
Mersey Beatles have put together an exclusive one set spectacular,
building from the Sgt Pepper LP (which was released in the same
year as the QE2's launch) and working back to the excitement of
Beatlemania, with a costume change to match.
For
details of these and other shows, keep an eye on the Gig
Guide.

The Beginning Of A Hard Day's Night
 |
The
long-awaited Hard Days Night Hotel opened its doors in
Liverpool on 1st February, and there were no prizes for
guessing who was the first band to play at the prestigious
new venue.
|
That's
right! Your very own Mersey Beatles.
The
opening night show was a private celebration for guests who had
booked to stay on the hotel's first night. The management were
so impressed that the boys were invited back to play at the official
launch night on 27th February, which included some familiar faces
from the world of music and showbiz. (Far be it from The Mersey
Beatles to name drop!).
As
Cavern Club residents and the first choice tribute band for the
Beatles Story Museum and Liverpool City Council,
The Mersey Beatles were privileged to
be first choice for the Hard Days Night Hotel's opening night
and official launch.
If you were not at either of these special nights don't
despair. Check out the Gig Guide to find
out where the Mersey Beatles wil be next.
